Weather in Delphi

The typically Mediterranean climate in Delphi and its location on the slopes of Mt. Parnassus translate into long, warm summers and cold but sunny winters.

The average temperature in Delphi for the year hovers around 17° C/63° F. The warmest months are from June to August when temperatures reach as high as 40° C/104° F. This is also the time when it rains; bring along a hooded jacket for sudden showers. You will also need footwear with a good grip to negotiate the slippery steps and stony paths while exploring the ruins. After the rains, the sun beats down mercilessly when you're out in the open - a hat and sun block cream are essentials to pack.

Winter brings snow to the mountains. This is when Delphi gets busy with skiing at the nearby resorts. It does get chilly, so make sure you have adequate warm wear.

If you'd prefer to avoid the tourist rush, spring may be the right time for you, when snow still lingers on Mt Parnassus, but not enough to stop the wildflowers from blooming.
